Stephanie Abercromby

Stephanie Abercromby is a well-known musician in Hobart. She was educated at Perth Modern School on a music scholarship and continued her studies at the University of W.A., graduating with a Bachelor of Music. She was Senior repetiteur with the West Australian Opera Company, repetiteur for ABC opera concerts and appeared regularly as a soloist with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. After winning the W.A. State final of the ABC concerto competition on piano, she received a West Australian Arts Council grant to study harpsichord with Colin Tilney in London. Stephanie teaches music at Hobart's Fahan School. She has sung with and directed the Jane Franklin Consort, and was repetiteur with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Chorus before retiring in 2010. Stephanie was also director of the Tasmanian Chorale from 2005 to 2010 and in her spare time she is a keen bonsai enthusiast and sailor.

Duncan Abercromby

Duncan Abercromby studied clarinet in Sydney with Donald Westlake and in 1973 after several years freelancing in Melbourne and Sydney joined the West Australian Symphony Orchestra as second clarinet. He became principal Clarinet with the T.S.O. in 1979 and has appeared frequently with both the W.A.S.O. and T.S.O. as soloist in works by Mozart, Weber, Debussy, Krommer and others. He has played with all the major symphony orchestras in Australia and has recently completed a tour with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. When not performing, his favourite pastimes are sailing, bridge and enjoying a couple of quiet ales on the balcony of his home in Oyster Cove.

Jane Edwards

Jane is one of Australia's most experienced and acclaimed singers in an unusually wide range of repertoire. She appears regularly on concert platforms throughout the country, and has performed at all of the leading Australian music festivals, including Melbourne, Sydney, Huntington, Barossa, Adelaide and Perth. From 1990 to 1994, Jane was a member of The Song Company, and she currently teaches at the UTas Conservatorium of Music.

Jane has given numerous world premieres, creating the role of Milena in Michael Smetanin's The Burrow, and appearing with Synergy in Jonathan Mills' Ethereal Eye (also on ABC Classics CD). She has a formidable reputation as an interpreter of early music, in frequent collaboration with our foremost baroque experts. In addition, she regularly performs lieder and chamber repertoire in association with leading musicians including David Bollard, Marshall McGuire, David Miller and Geoffrey Lancaster.
